Happy Thanksgiving November 26, 2008

Yeah! Thanksgiving. Family, friends, time to share, have fun and always learn at least a little. Scholastic has a neat little piece on the First Thanksgiving where you can learn about the Mayflower, daily life and a feast, there is a neat little turkey game (this one looks like more fun but I can’t get it to work
– maybe you can) and of course the President pardons the turkey again. I also can’t seem to get my act together to mail cards so I enjoy things like the virtual vintage Thanksgiving card option.
Whatever you do, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

New session, and 5 minutes in, I am very happy. Have you seen Voki? I hadn’t! Anyone can make their own avatar and have it talk. Pose a question to a student (or group of students), have them create a first-person response, listen to each other’s recording, this is going to be great!

Greetings from Houston, TX and the National Conference for NCSS (National Council for Social Studies)! It is rather foggy and muggy and there was a little snafu for getting my badge, but we’re set and I already learned about a tool that is new to me: xtimeline – a way to create interactive and multimedia time lines, individually or collaboratively if you wish. I will definitely take five tonight at the hotel, probably more, and explore the potential.
Happy Friday!
